Following the consecration of the Eucharist the dancers
step up onto the altar and dance Banako as the
acclamation. The dancers' presence inside the church is
relatively new within the Korpus celebration. The
dance was first performed in the church in 1956 for a
special occasion. The dancers began to dance
regularly on the altar in 1975. |
