Korpus Eguna - Mass

6/17/01 As mass begins in the parish, members of the Cofradía del Santísimo Sacramento finish dressing as Saint Michael, Christ, and the apostles at the old convent of Santa Ana.
6/17/01 The dancers enter the church just before the consecration of the Eucharist and take their places on the steps.
6/17/01 People unable to find a seat listen to mass while they stand among the images of the saints in front of the Capilla de la Piedad.
6/17/01 Following the consecration of the Eucharist the dancers step up onto the altar and dance Banako as the acclamation. The dancers' presence inside the church is relatively new within the Korpus celebration.  The dance was first performed in the church in 1956 for a special occasion.  The dancers began to dance regularly on the altar in 1975.
